Naturally curious, I love researching and assembling stories on almost any topic. Published work includes travel stories, adventure articles, DIY pieces, features in sports magazines plus numerous tongue-in-cheek contributions for Cleo and Cosmopolitan.

I enjoy writing and reading prose that taps into the psyche, how and why people behave how they do – whether it be in novels, articles or reports. I also love descriptive writing that helps you picture a character – or a consumer for that matter.

I thought I’d start collecting and sharing snippets of good writing that connects with the human experience or paints a character on my blog

I’m posting the first piece here on this page.  I spotted this in The Age on the weekend in an article written by Peter Munro on island hopping in Venice:

“At the bar is an old man channelling Hemingway, his white beard almost iridescent against boot-polish brown skin.”

I could really see this character from this short description and loved Munro’s choice of adjectives.

If you have a piece of writing you’d like to share, I’d love to hear from you!
